A Ukrainian delegation has left for peace talks in the U.S. – Zelenskyy
The political delegation of the Ukrainian negotiating team has already departed for the United States to resume talks on ending Russia’s war against Ukraine.
As President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced in his evening address on March 19, 2026, the meeting in the U.S. is scheduled for Saturday, March 21. The head of state emphasized the importance of Washington’s readiness to work in various formats and stressed the need to end the pause in negotiations.
The delegation includes National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov, Head of the Office of the President Kirill Budanov, Servant of the People faction leader Davyd Arakhamia, and First Deputy Head of the Office of the President Serhiy Kyslytsia. Achieving a dignified peace remains the Ukrainian side’s priority for the upcoming meeting. Zelenskyy noted that the team is doing everything possible to ensure the substance of future negotiations with international partners.
The decision to resume the negotiation process came amid active diplomatic efforts by Ukraine and signals from the U.S. administration regarding its readiness to mediate. The President thanked all allies who are assisting in preparing for this stage of the dialogue. The meeting in the U.S. is expected to be a key step in determining the further strategy for ending Russian aggression and restoring Ukraine’s territorial integrity.
Meanwhile, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov has already stated that the trilateral negotiation process between Ukraine, the U.S., and Russia is currently on hold. According to him, consultations are temporarily suspended.
