Two new disciplines have been added to the program for the 2030 Winter Olympics

The International Olympic Committee has officially approved the program for the XXVI Winter Olympic Games in 2030. Two new disciplines have been added to the list of events and will make their debut at the upcoming Olympics.

Two new sports—freeride and synchronized figure skating—will be included in the program for the first time.

Freeride is a style of snowboarding or alpine skiing that involves descending natural mountain slopes outside of groomed trails. This sport will consist of four disciplines, featuring 44 athletes—22 women and 22 men.

Synchronized figure skating will be featured for the first time at the Winter Olympics in the “Synchro-9” format, meaning teams will compete with a reduced roster of nine participants instead of the traditional 16.

Nordic combined has been excluded from the Olympic program, according to Sport.ua.
