The EU has imposed new sanctions against Russia following massive attacks on Ukraine
On Friday, August 7, the European Union approved new sanctions lists targeting Russia in response to the Russian Federation’s recent massive strikes on Ukraine.
According to Kallas, five individuals linked to the Russian military-industrial complex were added to the new sanctions list.
The European diplomat emphasized that every new Russian attack on Ukraine should serve as an additional reason for Europe to intensify sanctions pressure on Moscow.
“As the Russian army is bogged down on the battlefield, Moscow is further intensifying its campaign of terror against the civilian population. The EU must continue to increase pressure on Russia until Moscow ends the war,” Kallas emphasized.
Thus, the European Union continues to use sanctions as a tool to pressure the Russian military-industrial complex and individuals involved in supporting the war against Ukraine.
This was reported by the head of European diplomacy, Kaja Kallas, on the social media platform X.
As a reminder, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting on sanctions against Russia and instructed officials to prepare a plan for a special sanctions operation. According to him, it should significantly restrict the operations of the Russian military-industrial complex and prevent Moscow from quickly adapting to new restrictions.
On August 6, the United Kingdom expanded sanctions against Russia, adding 19 new items to the list. The restrictions target Russian banks, energy and industrial companies, as well as tankers that transported oil, petroleum products, and liquefied natural gas, thereby supporting Russia’s military economy.
