Honduras plans to purchase Ukrainian drones for border security
Honduras has announced its intention to purchase Ukrainian drones to strengthen border control and conduct anti-drug operations. This became known following a visit by Honduran President Nasri Asfura to Kyiv, where he held talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on expanding cooperation in the field of security.
During the meeting, the Ukrainian side offered Honduras military technologies, specifically modern drones that can be used to monitor territories, detect criminal activity, and strengthen border control.
According to Nasri Asfouri, the new technologies are planned to be used for protecting the state border, combating organized crime and drug trafficking, improving the effectiveness of security operations, and potentially in agriculture.
He emphasized that modern unmanned aerial systems are an important tool for countries facing high levels of crime and instability.
Interest in Ukrainian technologies stems from the complex crime situation in the country. Honduras has one of the highest rates of violent crime in the region, largely linked to the activities of drug cartels and street gangs.
Recently, the country has seen a series of high-profile incidents, including the mass murder of 19 people in the north, an attack on police officers near the border with Guatemala, and an escalation in the struggle for drug trafficking routes.
The Honduran government views drones as a tool that can enhance the effectiveness of law enforcement agencies in combating organized crime and monitoring high-risk areas.

Earlier, the Lithuanian government approved the purchase of a test batch of American Merops AS-3 Surveyor interceptor drones. These drones have already been tested in Ukraine under combat conditions.
