China has denied the Financial Times' report on Xi Jinping's remarks about Putin

On May 19, the Chinese Foreign Ministry denied a report by the Financial Times claiming that Xi Jinping had allegedly spoken negatively about Russian President Vladimir Putin’s actions during talks with Donald Trump.

 

Beijing stated that the claims made in the article were untrue and did not confirm that the Chinese leader had made such statements regarding Russia’s war against Ukraine.

Journalists asked a spokesperson for China’s Foreign Ministry to comment on the newspaper’s report. “The information you cited contradicts the facts and is pure fiction,” said Gao, responding to a request to comment on Xi’s remarks from the Financial Times article.
