King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden arrived in Lviv and met with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Accompanying the monarch on his visit to Ukraine was Swedish Foreign Minister Maria Malmér Stenergård.

During their visit to Lviv, the king and the president paid tribute to the fallen Ukrainian soldiers at Mars Field.

“We are very grateful for this tribute. The memory of each and every one of them is very important to us… They fought not only for our country, but also to defend all of Europe,” Zelenskyy said.

Sweden emphasized that this visit is a testament to broad support for Ukraine—both at the state level and within society.

This is the Swedish monarch’s first visit to Ukraine since the start of the full-scale war, though Carl XVI Gustaf had previously visited the country in 2008.

While patrolling the Baltic Sea, a Swedish Coast Guard aircraft spotted the bulk carrier “Hui Yuan,” which, according to preliminary data, was dumping coal waste. The Panamanian-flagged vessel had recently arrived from Russia and was heading to the Spanish port of Las Palmas.

Earlier, Sweden detained a sanctioned tanker due to an oil spill.
