Lithuanian volunteer Ignas Kailius was killed on the front lines in Ukraine
Ignas Kailius, a Lithuanian citizen who was fighting as a volunteer with the Ukrainian Defense Forces, was killed in the war against Russian aggression.
According to sources, Ignas Kailius had been listed as missing in action since early June, when he was on a combat mission. His death was later confirmed on a memorial page.
“Our dear Lithuanian brother-in-arms Ignas Kailius, who fought in Ukraine as a volunteer, fell on the battlefield. Honor, glory, and gratitude,” the statement reads.
According to Lithuanian media reports, Kailius joined the Ukrainian Defense Forces in February 2026, where he served in the infantry as a grenadier.
His death marks the third confirmed casualty of a Lithuanian citizen who fought for Ukraine. Previously, Tadas Tumas and Tomas Valentelis were killed in action.
