Elevated dust levels have been recorded in a number of cities in the Kyiv region

Elevated levels of fine particulate matter in the air have been temporarily recorded in a number of settlements in the Kyiv region.

At the same time, the automated monitoring system has not detected any exceedances of permissible levels of chemical and biological substances in most settlements in the region.

“The automated air quality monitoring system in most settlements of the Kyiv region has not detected any exceedances of permissible levels for chemical and biological substances. However, please note that in Vyshhorod, Vasylkiv, Obukhiv, Brovary, and the village of Ivankiv, elevated levels of fine particulate matter pollution are currently being recorded,” the Regional State Administration reported.

According to the administration, elevated concentrations of fine particulate matter can cause breathing difficulties, particularly in children, the elderly, and individuals sensitive to irritants.

To minimize the effects of air pollution, experts recommend:

  • keep windows closed;
  • limit prolonged time spent outdoors;
  • drink plenty of water;
  • if you have an air purifier, use it at maximum capacity.

The Kyiv Regional Military Administration also noted that gamma radiation levels in the region remain stable and correspond to natural background levels.

This was reported by the Kyiv Regional Military Administration.

As a reminder, on August 18 in Kropyvnytskyi, following a fire, laboratory tests revealed a deterioration in air quality and concentrations of several harmful substances exceeding permissible levels. This was reported by Andriy Raikovych, head of the Kirovohrad Regional Military Administration.

Earlier, the State Emergency Service clarified that, as of now, approximately two hectares of the settling pond area have already been flooded. Work will continue until all smoldering areas are completely extinguished. Andriy Raikovych, head of the Kirovohrad Regional State Administration, announced this on social media on Monday.

In Kropyvnytskyi, inactive sedimentation tanks at the “Dnipro-Kirovohrad” enterprise caught fire due to the heat. Heavy smoke has filled the city, so residents are urged to close their windows and, if possible, stay indoors while experts assess air quality.
