The Druzhba oil pipeline may resume operations next week

The Druzhba oil pipeline may resume operations next week

Russian oil supplies to Hungary via the Druzhba pipeline could resume as early as next week after a prolonged hiatus.

Bloomberg reports this.

According to Hungary’s incoming Prime Minister Péter Magyar, he was informed of the possibility of resuming supplies by MOL CEO Zsolt Hernádi.

The MOL CEO is expected to visit Russia next week to discuss technical details and supply volumes.

Mátyás emphasized that simply resuming pipeline operations is not enough for a full-scale launch—oil supplies must also be secured.

The pipeline, which runs through Ukraine to Central Europe, has been out of service since January 2026 following damage caused by a Russian drone attack.

The situation surrounding Druzhba has caused political tension: Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán accused Ukraine of delaying repairs and threatened to block EU financial aid.

At the same time, Magyar expressed hope that once transit resumes, Hungary might lift its veto on aid to Ukraine.

Mágyar mocked Orbán’s solitary stroll on the terrace of the residence.

Von der Leyen and Magyar discussed the release of EU funds for Hungary.
