The man who attacked a Ukrainian couple in Krakow turned himself in to the police
In Kraków, a 39-year-old local resident turned himself in to the police station after attacking a Ukrainian couple. This was reported by Elżbieta Znakowska-Bytnar, a spokeswoman for the Kraków police.
The incident occurred on the evening of August 7. The man is currently in custody and is being investigated on charges of ethnic hate crime. He will then be transferred to the prosecutor’s office to face formal charges. Under Polish law, he faces up to three years in prison.

In Gdańsk, a 37-year-old Polish man attacked a Ukrainian man and two passersby whom he mistakenly took for Ukrainians. The man was drunk, shouting about “Bandera supporters,” and broke the arm of one of the two Polish men. The police later detained the attacker—he was found to have a blood alcohol level of over 1.5 per mille, and he was also driving without a license.
The opposition party “Law and Justice” (PiS) proposed deporting Ukrainian men of draft age who are not working legally in Poland.
