MP Zheleznyak announced the revocation of the immunity granted to blogger Zolkin
Well-known Ukrainian interviewer and blogger Volodymyr Zolkin has lost his right to deferment from conscription into the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
This was reported by MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak, who noted that following the public outcry, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense ceased cooperation with the media figure.
The situation surrounding the blogger escalated in early March when information emerged about possible tax evasion.
Documents regarding Zolkin’s financial activities were officially forwarded to the Economic Security Bureau (ESB) for further investigation.
According to Zheleznyak, two criminal cases have been opened under Articles 212 and 209 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The charges involve tax evasion on an especially large scale and the laundering of funds that may have originated from third-party entities.
Previously, Volodymyr Zolkin had an official exemption from mobilization specifically through the structures of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense.
However, amid the scandal, the agency decided to remove the blogger from the list of exempted individuals, which automatically returns him to the general queue of conscripts.
“According to my information, following this publicity, the Main Intelligence Directorate removed him from the exemption list. So, he was subsequently removed from the list and transferred to the general mobilization registry,” emphasized MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak.
Vladimir Zolkin himself partially confirmed these changes in his status, acknowledging a lack of active cooperation with the Main Intelligence Directorate over the past month.
The blogger also publicly stated that he does not plan to avoid service and intends to enlist by May of this year.
Recall: Cryptocurrency, “drops,” and mobilization exemptions: The Temporary Investigation Commission has uncovered schemes involving millions in profits by pro-government media influencers.
Additionally, blogger Petrov has stopped traveling around the city following the cancellation of his exemption from mobilization.
