Navrotsky initiated the revocation of Poland's highest state award from Zelensky
Polish President Karol Nawrocki has proposed stripping Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Poland’s highest state honor—the Order of the White Eagle.
The Polish politician cited the awarding of the honorary title “Heroes of the UPA” to one of the units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces as the reason for this move.
Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi reacted strongly to this statement, recalling the joint struggle of Ukrainians and Polish volunteers against Russian aggression.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy received the Order of the White Eagle in 2023 from the hands of Poland’s incumbent President Andrzej Duda during an official visit.
At the time, the Ukrainian leader emphasized that he was accepting this distinguished honor on behalf of the entire Ukrainian people and the Ukrainian military, which is resisting a full-scale invasion.
Andriy Sadovyi expressed skepticism regarding Navrotsky’s attempts to overturn this decision, noting that the Polish official has not once dared to personally cross the Ukrainian border amid the war.
The mayor of Lviv emphasized that the real challenges of our time clearly reveal the true nature of both direct participants in the hostilities and outside observers.
He noted that Ukrainian society will always remember the incredible outpouring of support from the Polish people, who have sincerely and devotedly helped and continue to help Ukrainians from the very first days of the full-scale war.
An important symbol of this unity is the Lychakiv Military Memorial in Lviv, where white-and-red flags of fallen Polish volunteers fly alongside blue-and-yellow banners.
