Peter Magyar is calling for the launch of "Druzhba" and has appealed to Zelenskyy

The winner of the Hungarian elections, Péter Magyar, made a high-profile statement regarding the resumption of operations on the Druzhba oil pipeline and addressed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The politician emphasized that energy supply should not be subject to political pressure and called for the resumption of Russian oil transit. This was reported by the Hungarian publication 444.hu.

During a press conference, Péter Magyar clearly outlined his foreign policy strategy regarding relations with Ukraine and the European Union. The main focus was on the Druzhba oil pipeline. According to the Hungarian leader, resuming oil transportation via this route is a matter of economic expediency and the country’s energy security, not a “political game.”

Mátyás emphasized that if the technical condition of the pipeline allows for transit, it must be restarted to resume the supply of raw materials from Russia to Hungary. The politician added that he would not tolerate any attempts at blackmail or pressure on this issue, expressing confidence that European leaders would also not succumb to such methods.

A separate point in the statement addressed the financial aspect of the issue. Péter Magyar linked the stable operation of the oil pipeline to international support. He noted that if oil transit begins without hindrance, this will remove the grounds for blocking the provision of a €90 billion loan. In this way, he made it clear that the uninterrupted operation of the Druzhba pipeline is one of the key conditions for normalizing financial and political relations in the region.

Hungary’s future Prime Minister Péter Magyar announced his government’s readiness for constructive cooperation with Brussels.
