Law enforcement officials have uncovered an alleged scheme involving the embezzlement of public funds on a particularly large scale at the Kyiv University of Culture.
According to the investigation, university officials may have colluded with representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science to illegally appropriate funds allocated under a state personnel training program.
This involves funding that amounted to approximately 760 million hryvnias in 2022–2023. Investigators believe that to increase funding, false data regarding the number of students and employees may have been entered into official documents.
Information is also being verified regarding the possible inclusion in reports of individuals from a private institution who were not eligible to participate in the budget program.
As part of the investigation, law enforcement officials conducted over 20 searches at the residences of those involved and on the university premises. During the investigative actions, equipment and documents that may contain evidence were seized.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and the full circle of individuals involved is being identified.
