Programmers to disappear as a profession by the end of the year, says Claude Code creator
The founder of Claude Code claims that programmers will soon no longer be needed as specialists, as they will be replaced by experts who manage AI agents and generate code through neural networks. According to him, he has not written code since November 2025, and his colleague completed a year’s worth of work in just one hour using Claude Code.
Since 2023, the number of vacancies for junior developers has dropped by 35%, with employers now seeking experienced engineers skilled in working with artificial intelligence. This signals rapid changes in the software development job market.
It is expected that this transformation will lead to the emergence of new professions related to managing and configuring AI agents, while traditional programming will either become secondary or undergo radical changes.
