Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Russia is preparing new mobilization measures that could affect up to 100,000 people. According to him, Ukraine is also reviewing five possible scenarios for the war’s further escalation and stepping up preparations for new threats. In addition, Kyiv plans to expand the scope of long-range sanctions against Russia.
The President of Ukraine announced this after a meeting of the High Command.
“Regarding Russian developments. We are preparing to expand the scope of our long-range sanctions, which have already proven very effective, and to apply more tangible pressure on Russia to reduce its aggression. We have also taken note of information regarding Russia’s preparations for new mobilization measures—an additional 100,000 people. We believe that as of today, Russia lacks the capacity for covert mobilization; therefore, we should expect Russian political decisions of a different nature, such as those recently taken regarding the Transnistrian region of Moldova,” Zelenskyy said.
According to the President, Ukraine will certainly defend itself, and “our task now is to strengthen our state so that none of the five Russian scenarios for expanding the war through northern Ukraine will work.”
