U.S. intelligence has assessed the likelihood of a Chinese attack on Taiwan in 2027

U.S. intelligence has assessed the likelihood of a Chinese attack on Taiwan in 2027

In its annual report on global threats, the U.S. intelligence community concluded that Beijing currently has no intention of using military force to seize Taiwan in the coming years.

This was reported by CNBC.

Despite regular military exercises around the island and aggressive rhetoric, the Chinese leadership prefers a “peaceful reunification” scenario. According to analysts, China has not yet established a clear timeline for taking control of the territory it considers its own.

The report notes that Beijing continues to build up its military capabilities, but this progress is “steady but uneven.” China’s main strategy is to force Taiwan to unify without direct conflict, while simultaneously countering U.S. influence in the region. Previously, President Trump claimed to have received assurances from Xi Jinping regarding a non-aggression pact, although Beijing has never officially confirmed the existence of such agreements.

Relations between Washington and Beijing remain tense, particularly due to a record $11 billion arms sale to Taiwan concluded in December. China views military support for the island as interference in its internal affairs and a threat to its own growth. For its part, Taiwan consistently rejects China’s claims to sovereignty, emphasizing that the island’s future should be determined solely by its people.

Recall that the U.S. has called onChina to stop pressuring Taiwan.
