The U.S. is deploying Marines to the Strait of Hormuz

The U.S. has deployed thousands of Marines to the Middle East, bolstering its presence in the Strait of Hormuz. The operation coincided with the deadline set by the Trump administration for Iran.

According to the publication, the amphibious ships USS Tripoli and USS New Orleans, along with approximately 2,200 Marines from the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, have entered the area of responsibility of U.S. Central Command.

The unit is expected to arrive directly in the Strait of Hormuz area within a few days. The troop deployment comes against the backdrop of a deadline that U.S. President Donald Trump set for Iran—Tehran must restore shipping in the Strait of Hormuz by March 27.
