A London court denied Nord Stream's claim for compensation for the sabotage of the Nord Stream pipelines

A London court denied Nord Stream's claim for compensation for the sabotage of the Nord Stream pipelines

The High Court in London has ruled that Western insurance companies are not obligated to compensate for losses caused by the sabotage of the Nord Stream gas pipelines. As a result, the pipeline operator Nord Stream will not receive the nearly 580 million euros in compensation it had sought.

The company had demanded that insurers pay for damage to both legs of the pipeline.

Had the claim been upheld, this payout could have been one of the largest insurance payouts for infrastructure damage in history.

Judge Claire Moulders sided with the insurance companies, concluding that the sabotage of the Nord Stream pipelines was directly or indirectly linked to the Russia-Ukraine war. This was the basis for denying the compensation claim.

At the same time, Nord Stream representatives insisted that the war was merely a background circumstance or a pretext for the sabotage, rather than its direct cause.

During the six-week trial, Russia, Ukraine, and the United States were considered among the possible parties involved in the explosions. However, the court did not determine which party was responsible for the sabotage of the Nord Stream gas pipelines.

The High Court of London’s ruling effectively bars Nord Stream from receiving multimillion-dollar insurance payouts for the destroyed infrastructure.

The Financial Times reports this, citing the court’s ruling.

The German Federal Prosecutor’s Office has officially charged Ukrainian citizen Serhiy Kuznetsov in connection with the Nord Stream gas pipeline explosions. The agency’s statement notes that he and other members of the group acted as Ukrainian military personnel.

The investigation into the alleged sabotage of the “Nord Stream” gas pipelines is now entering a new phase. The defense attorneys for Ukrainian soldier Serhiy Kuznetsov reported that they had received the indictment from the German side just the day before. According to them, they now have about two months to thoroughly review the case materials and prepare their defense.

In Germany, charges have been filed against a Ukrainian national in the Nord Stream case.

Germany has urged its citizens to leave Russia.

Russia has stepped up a new informationcampaign against Sumy.

Russian propaganda outlets have claimed to have allegedly captured the village of Ivolzhanske in the Sumy region. At the same time, the Ukrainian side refutes these claims, emphasizing that the information about these “successes” is fabricated and does not correspond to reality. This was reported on June 24 by the Communications Center of the “Kursk” military group, citing Ukrainian military sources.

Russia will remaina threat to its neighbors even after Putin, according to Swedish intelligence.
