In Russia, preparations are underway for the mass production of the ZIF Morena compact electric car, which outwardly almost completely mimics the legendary Mercedes G-Class (“Geländewagen”). The new model is priced at 1.3 million rubles (about 17,000 dollars).

According to preliminary information, the ZIF Morena was most likely based on a Chinese design, as China already produces several models of compact electric cars with a design styled after the Mercedes G-Class.

The electric car almost completely replicates the appearance of the iconic SUV. The car features a distinctive angular body, a two-box silhouette, round headlights, as well as an AMG-style grille and bumpers. The look is complemented by a hood with a decorative air intake.

The model measures 4,010 mm in length, 1,850 mm in width, and 1,850 mm in height.

The interior features a multifunction steering wheel, a touchscreen display for the multimedia system, power windows, and air conditioning, making the equipment quite modern for a budget electric car.

The ZIF Morena is equipped with an electric motor producing just 10 horsepower and a battery pack with a capacity of 14.4 kWh. The model also features coil-spring suspension and disc brakes.

Despite its outward resemblance to the premium Mercedes G-Class, the new model’s technical specifications are significantly more modest, and the car itself is designed for city driving.

The first image of the car was published by the website “Motor.”

As a reminder, the Russian company “Kama,” which is developing the “Atom” electric vehicle, has faced financial difficulties. The company has begun delaying salary payments to employees and implementing staff cuts.

Earlier, the Russian presidential administration sent special “recommendations” to state-run and pro-government media outlets regarding how exactly to report on the fuel shortage in the country.

The fuel crisis is also intensifying in Russia: gasoline is running out at gas stations and lines are growing longer.

Russia has allowed the use of lower-quality gasoline due to the fuel crisis.
