Church Calendar for June 2026: Complete List of Holidays
In June 2026, Orthodox Christians will celebrate the Day of the Holy Spirit, the Nativity of John the Baptist, and the feast day of the Apostles Peter and Paul. Also this month is the Fast of Peter, which will last for two weeks.

Peter’s Fast (Petrovka) in 2026 lasts from June 8 through June 28, ending on the eve of the feast of Saints Peter and Paul. It is one of four multi-day fasts that prepares believers to honor the memory of the holy apostles.
Permitted foods: dishes made from vegetables, fruits, mushrooms, grains, and herbs.
Fish and seafood: permitted on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday.
Strict days (fasting): on Wednesdays and Fridays, only uncooked plant-based foods (bread, water, vegetables, fruits) are consumed.
Prohibited: meat, eggs, and dairy products.
During fasting days, one should refrain from loud entertainment, alcohol consumption, weddings and wedding ceremonies, handicrafts, as well as foul language, quarrels, and negative thoughts. The latter applies to other days of the year as well.
