The Russian State Duma threatened Zelenskyy with retaliatory strikes in the event of attacks on the May 9 parade
The Russian State Duma has warned of possible "retaliatory strikes" in the event of drone attacks on the May 9 parade in Moscow.
This was stated by Andrei Kolesnik, a member of the State Duma’s Defense Committee.
According to him, in the event of attacks, the response will be “harsh and disproportionate,” and he also suggested the possibility of preemptive strikes on locations from which drones could be launched.
The Kremlin confirmed that this year’s Victory Day parade will take place in a limited format, citing the “operational situation” and security threats.
At the same time, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, during a conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump, proposed declaring a ceasefire on May 9. In Kyiv, officials responded by emphasizing the need for a long-term ceasefire, not short-term pauses.
For the first time in many years, the May 9 parade in Moscow may take place without a display of military equipment, indicating a weakening of Russian military capabilities compared to previous years. At the same time, it cannot be ruled out that Ukrainian drones may appear in the airspace during the event. On May 4, our drones already flew over Moscow.
The Kremlin confirmed that Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico plans to visit Moscow and participate in the military parade on May 9.
