Ukrainian female fencers won a historic bronze medal at the European Championships in the women's team foil event
The Ukrainian national fencing team won bronze medals at the European Championships in the team foil event, defeating the Spanish team in the third-place match.
The Ukrainian fencers defeated their Spanish counterparts by a narrow margin of 37–36, thereby securing Ukraine’s first-ever medal in this discipline.
The team consisted of Daria Myronyuk, Alina Polozuyk, Olga Sopit, and Kristina Petrova.
In the quarterfinals, the Ukrainian team confidently defeated Hungary 45–39, but lost to Italy 22–45 in the semifinals. The Italian team is the reigning European champion and tops the world rankings.
The European Fencing Championships are being held in Antony, France. The Ukrainian team has already won four medals at the tournament: one gold and three bronze.

Earlier, Elina Svitolina advanced to the quarterfinals of the prestigious German Open tennis tournament in Berlin. Ukraine’s top-ranked player and the sixth seed in the competition confidently defeated Eva Lys, a German player of Ukrainian descent, in the second round.
