Ukrainian forces have struck Russian artillery positions deep within Russian territory, targeting self-propelled artillery systems and howitzers. These were systems operating in support of enemy units along the border. The Army states that such strikes reduce the enemy’s firepower. The Ukrainian Army reported this on Facebook and released a video.
Soldiers of the 72nd Separate Mechanized Brigade named after the Black Cossacks struck Russian artillery on Russian territory, hitting two 2S19 “Msta-S” self-propelled guns and two D-30 towed howitzers. The Ukrainian Army has confirmed the strikes and provided accompanying video footage.
The statement notes that the strikes were aimed at reducing the enemy’s firepower in the sector where these systems were deployed. The Ground Forces briefly commented on the operation with the phrase: “The enemy’s firepower in the sector has been neutralized. The border does not protect from retribution. The hunt continues!”
The destroyed equipment is part of the Russian field artillery’s core assets, used to shell Ukrainian forces’ positions. According to military logic, such strikes are aimed at gradually weakening the enemy’s ability to fire in border areas and frontline regions.
The Russians also struck a meat processing plant in the Kharkiv region with a "Molniya" drone—three people were injured.
The Main Intelligence Directorate carried out a series of attacks in the Zaporizhzhia direction.
