In Russia, one of the largest elevator manufacturers is facing bankruptcy
A petition has been filed with the Moscow Arbitration Court to declare the joint-stock company "Meteor Lift Shcherbinka" bankrupt.
This was reported by Russian media.
According to the data, the petition was filed by the Kirov Region Office of the Federal Tax Service of the Russian Federation. As of February 10, 2026, the company’s tax debt amounts to 125.8 million rubles.
The debt includes income tax in the amount of 85.6 million rubles, value-added tax in the amount of 34.2 million rubles, insurance contributions in the amount of 1.6 million rubles, as well as penalties for late payments.
The company is part of the Meteor Lift Group, which was formed from the assets of the American company Otis after its exit from the Russian market and is one of the key manufacturers of elevator equipment in the Russian Federation.
At the same time, in 2025, the company’s revenue fell by 78 percent year-over-year, although for the year the company reported a net profit of 201 million rubles compared to a loss the previous year.
Experts note that the initiation of bankruptcy proceedings by tax authorities could be a means of pressuring the company to restructure its debts.
In addition, the Russian airline Azimut is rapidly approaching bankruptcy due to the economic crisis and falling demand for air travel.
As a reminder, Russia’s sole tank factory, Uralvagonzavod, is in a deep financial and operational crisis, despite propaganda claims about ramping up production of the T-90M “Proryv.”
