The governors of the Belgorod and Bryansk regions of the Russian Federation have resigned
Russia has announced changes in the leadership of the Belgorod and Bryansk regions, which border Ukraine and are regularly subjected to attacks. According to the Kremlin, Governors Vyacheslav Gladkov and Alexander Bogomaz have stepped down “of their own accord.”
This was reported by Al Arabiya.
Major General Alexander Shuvaev, who participated in the war against Ukraine and is a graduate of the “Time of Heroes” program, has been appointed acting governor of the Belgorod region. Yegor Kovalchuk, the former head of the “LPR government” and former deputy governor of the Chelyabinsk region, has taken the helm of the Bryansk region.
The Kremlin also stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin has already held meetings with the newly appointed regional leaders following their appointments.
It is worth noting that the Belgorod and Bryansk regions are located near the Ukrainian border. Since the start of the full-scale war, these regions have repeatedly reported drone attacks, shelling, and the activation of air defense systems.
The Kremlin has not yet cited official reasons for the governors’ resignations.
The Kremlinhas announced a new condition for negotiations with Ukraine.
Ukraine is ready for dialogue with Russia provided Moscow is genuinely committed to serious talks, but such meetings require careful preparation. Any direct contacts between the leaders of the warring states do not occur spontaneously or via a regular phone call.
