Video: Etna's eruption brought operations at Catania Airport to a halt
The airport in the Italian city of Catania has temporarily suspended flights due to a cloud of volcanic ash caused by a new eruption of Mount Etna.
This was announced by the airport operator, SAC.
Flight operations have been suspended until at least 3:00 p.m. GMT. Passengers are advised to check the status of their flights with their airlines in advance.

According to Italy’s National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology, Etna is spewing lava from several vents, forming new lava flows. Due to ash emissions, the highest—red—alert level remains in effect for aviation.
