Zelenskyy instructed officials to reach out to partners regarding Patriot missiles

Following the Russian attack, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that he had instructed the commander of the Air Force to contact partners who had previously promised to provide missiles for the Patriot systems.

The head of state announced this on Telegram.

“This morning, I received a report from the Commander of the Ukrainian Air Force. There were nearly 700 Russian drones during the day and evening of the previous day and overnight. There were also missiles: 19 ballistic missiles and additional cruise missiles last night. Most of the ballistic missiles were aimed at Kyiv. We managed to shoot down 636 drones and some of the missiles. Unfortunately, not all of them. There are hits and damage to ordinary homes. Unfortunately, there are fatalities in Odesa, Kyiv, and Dnipro. Among the dead is a 12-year-old boy. My condolences to his family and loved ones… As of now, we know of 100 wounded due to this single massive Russian attack,” Zelenskyy reported.

According to him, this night “proves that Russia does not deserve any softening of global policy or lifting of sanctions.” The President emphasized that Russia is betting on war, and that is precisely how the response must be—we must defend lives with all our might and we must also push for peace with all our might.

“And it is important to fulfill every promise of assistance to Ukraine in a timely manner. There are many political commitments from partners that have already been announced but not yet implemented. This includes commitments made in the ‘Ramstein’ format and on a bilateral basis. I have instructed the Commander of the Air Force to contact those partners who previously made promises regarding missiles for the ‘Patriots’ and other systems. I await a report on the results,” the head of state stated.

He expressed gratitude to those around the world who are helping Ukraine. In particular, Zelenskyy thanked Germany, Norway, and Italy, with whom new agreements on supporting our air defense have already been reached. “We are working with the Netherlands on additional supplies,” the head of state noted.

Zelenskyyannounced news regarding missiles for the Patriot system following a conversation with the NATO Secretary General.

Prior to this, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked Bulgarian partners for this decision and noted that it will help Ukraine strengthen its air defense system ahead of the upcoming heating season.

South Korean authorities are analyzing additional options for supporting Ukraine amid the ongoing war with Russia. Specifically, this involves possible participation in an international initiative related to the supply of equipment and other aid.
