Zelenskyy criticized Navrotsky: Hating for the sake of ratings will end badly
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that during their first meeting, Polish President Karol Nawrocki gave him a book about the Volhynia tragedy, but at the time he did not make a public fuss about it.
“I didn’t talk about it, and I didn’t hold a press conference. I’m fine with it. We’re talking about it openly now because he’s taking steps that I consider wrong,” Zelenskyy said in an interview during a telethon.
The head of state also criticized Navrotsky’s policy on Ukrainian-Polish relations and warned against stoking hostility between the two nations.
“You’re radicalizing society. Hatred toward society will boost your approval ratings. This is a political struggle that could end badly—with a very serious escalation,” the president emphasized.
Zelenskyy also drew a parallel with the policies of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, stating that a similar approach has been used before and could have negative consequences.

Ukraine’s third president, Viktor Yushchenko, emphasized that in relations between Ukraine and Poland, it is important to uphold the political formula of “we apologize and ask for forgiveness.”
Former Polish Sejm deputy Piotr Fogler returned his state award—the “Golden Cross of Merit”—to the president as a sign of protest and solidarity with Ukraine.
