Zelenskyy Reveals Details of the "Diesel Deal" with Middle Eastern Countries

During his visit to the region, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy proposed a deal to his partners: Ukrainian expertise in defending against Iranian kamikaze drones in exchange for a stable supply of diesel fuel.

During a televised marathon on March 27, the head of state explained that currently 90% of Ukraine’s potential fuel shortage is accounted for by diesel, and this issue is critical for energy security and the planting season.

According to the president, Middle Eastern countries have robust missile defense systems, but protecting civilian infrastructure from massive UAV attacks remains a major challenge for them. Ukraine, with its unique experience in countering “Shaheds,” provides partners with precise technological solutions and tactical expertise. Zelenskyy emphasized that following the results of his trip, particularly to Saudi Arabia, the issue of fuel shortages—addressed by the Cabinet of Ministers and Naftogaz—has effectively been resolved. This will mitigate risks for Ukrainian consumers and farmers amid instability in global markets.

Ukrainian specialists are working in the Middle East to protect strategic infrastructure, the energy sector, and the civilian population, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with Ukrainian military experts currently stationed in Saudi Arabia. During the discussion, the parties focused on key requirements for strengthening airspace protection in the region and improving the effectiveness of air defense.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in Saudi Arabia on March 26 for a series of important meetings.
