Bentley has developed a merino wool interior trim for the electric Torcal
Bentley has developed a 100% merino wool automotive fabric for its upcoming electric SUV, the Torcal. The material was created in collaboration with Fox Brothers, a fabric manufacturer based in Somerset, England, according to InsideEVs.
Wool is not typically used in automotive interiors due to its lack of resistance to constant friction and wear. At the same time, it is a natural, renewable material. According to the publication, the new development is the first automotive fabric made entirely from merino wool.
The fabric has also become the first wool automotive fabric certified under the Responsible Wool Standard (RWS).

The company has not yet specified exactly where in the Torcal’s interior the wool material will be used. In Bentley’s teaser images, it can only be seen on a door trim piece.
For the Torcal’s interior, Bentley has also developed the Ombre Veneer decorative trim. It is made from walnut offcuts sourced responsibly and recycled paper. Up to 1,000 individually selected layers of material are compressed and then cut into sheets less than one millimeter thick.
