Electrified models accounted for 61% of Toyota and Lexus sales in the US — InsideEVs

In the United States, electrified vehicles accounted for a record 61% of total Toyota and Lexus sales in the third quarter. Of the 633,223 vehicles sold from July through September, 363,367 were hybrids, plug-in hybrids, or fully electric models, InsideEVs reports.

Combined quarterly sales of the two brands rose by 0.6% year over year, while sales of electrified models increased by 28.5%. Conventional hybrids accounted for the largest share, followed by plug-in hybrids and electric vehicles.

Hybrid sales

From January through September, the automaker sold 931,434 hybrid vehicles. The company does not publish quarterly statistics for individual models, instead disclosing monthly figures and year-to-date data.

Toyota RAV4 sales fell by 6.6% in September and by 29.2% over nine months. This occurred as production of the model's sixth generation was ramped up; it is now available only with a hybrid powertrain. Higher sales of other hybrids, including the Camry, Sienna Hybrid, and Grand Highlander Hybrid, offset the decline.
