Tesla delivered 486,532 vehicles in the third quarter and produced 464,391 vehicles. Deliveries exceeded the consensus forecast of analysts, who expected about 461,100 vehicles, CNBC reports. The company’s own consensus, published on Tuesday, projected 461,974 deliveries.

Deliveries lower than last year’s figure

Compared with the third quarter of the previous year, Tesla’s deliveries decreased by approximately 2%: the company delivered 497,099 vehicles then. At the same time, the result exceeded the second-quarter figure, when Tesla delivered 480,126 vehicles.

According to the company, 98% of all deliveries in the third quarter were Model 3 sedans and Model Y crossovers. Tesla does not disclose precise delivery data for individual models and regions. The company uses deliveries as its closest measure of sales, although it does not provide a precise definition of this metric in its shareholder communications.
