Ford is launching an AI assistant to check fuel levels and tire pressure
Ford has begun rolling out an AI assistant for Ford and Lincoln car owners. In the brands’ mobile apps, it will be able to answer questions about the car, including checking fuel levels and tire pressure, according to The Verge.
The assistant will function as a chatbot linked to the customer’s specific vehicle. As a result, it will know a range of specifications for that model, including fuel level, cargo capacity, and towing capabilities.
Owners will be able to ask how much fuel they’ll need for their next trip, as well as whether their pickup truck is capable of towing, for example, a motorboat. The chatbot will also answer questions about the vehicle’s technical capabilities and upcoming maintenance.

Ford plans to launch a voice-activated version of the assistant directly in vehicles in 2027. The company previously stated that it is developing a system independent of any specific chatbot so that it can work with various large language models.
Automakers are actively adding AI features to their vehicles. Rivian and Mercedes-Benz have already introduced their own voice assistants, BMW uses Amazon’s Alexa, and General Motors uses Google’s Gemini. Volvo and Polestar vehicles with Google’s built-in operating system are also set to receive Gemini.
