Geely Unveils a 2,250-kW EV Charger

The Chinese company Geely has unveiled its Smart Charge technology, which delivers a peak charging power of up to 2,250 kW. According to the manufacturer, an electric vehicle’s battery can be charged in about four minutes.

 

The new technology is Geely’s response to developments by another Chinese automaker, BYD. BYD previously announced that its new Blade 2.0 charging stations and batteries would support charging from 10% to 97% in about nine minutes.

Despite its high power output, Geely claims that Smart Charge uses artificial intelligence and a 3D thermal management system designed to prevent overheating and excessive degradation of the battery cells.

According to the company, the battery is designed for up to 3,500 charge-and-discharge cycles while maintaining its key performance characteristics with minimal loss.

It’s worth noting that Geely is preparing to acquire the premium electric vehicle brand Zeekr for $6.4 billion.

Geely also unveiled the EX2 Street and Track drift concepts in Brazil.

Meanwhile, Geely’s minivan set a Guinness World Record as the world’s most spacious passenger car.
