X users report Tesla FSD Lite’s response to trees and logs on the road
Two Tesla owners posted videos on the social network X in which cars running FSD v14.1 Lite, they claimed, did not respond to a fallen tree and a wooden log on the road. In one case, the driver stopped the car manually to avoid a collision, InsideEVs reports.

One of the videos was published on August 21 by an X user using the pseudonym Baldersonmichae. The footage shows a Tesla driving at night on a road where a large fallen tree with branches and leaves is lying. According to the driver, the car did not slow down before the obstacle, so he intervened and stopped the vehicle manually.
The author of the post also said that he drove through the same section three more times and got the same result. In the comments, another Tesla owner posted a video that, he said, shows a car with FSD driving over a large log at 32 miles per hour without stopping beforehand.

Version for Hardware 3
Both drivers said they were using FSD v14.1 Lite. Tesla introduced this software version in June for vehicles equipped with Hardware 3, which was introduced in 2019.
According to InsideEVs, Hardware 3 has less computing power than Hardware 4, which appeared in vehicles after 2023. Hardware 3 cameras have a resolution of 1.2 megapixels, while the updated system has 5 megapixels. Hardware 3 has 8 GB of RAM, compared with 16 GB per chip in Hardware 4.
Earlier this year, Tesla CEO Elon Musk said during an earnings call that Hardware 3 would not be able to provide fully autonomous driving when such capability becomes available for consumer vehicles. The name Full Self-Driving (Supervised) implies driver supervision.
