Lexus to retain the LS sedan for the 2027 model year in Japan

Lexus will continue selling its flagship LS sedan in Japan for the 2027 model year, despite discontinuing the model in the US market and other countries. As Motor1 reports, the vehicle has received changes to its structure, suspension and steering settings aimed at improving comfort and handling.

Changes to the structure and suspension

Engineers reinforced the body’s central tunnel, as well as the front and rear sections of the vehicle. The rear suspension and trunk compartment braces were fitted with a damping structure intended to reduce high-frequency vibrations.

Lexus has also retuned the suspension and electric power steering. According to the brand, these changes are intended to provide a more natural steering feel and more linear vehicle responses, reduce body roll and longitudinal pitching, and make the sedan’s behavior more stable in corners.

Trim levels and prices

On the Japanese market, the 2027 Lexus LS will be offered only in the 500h version with a hybrid powertrain based on a 3.5-liter V6. Buyers will be able to choose rear-wheel or all-wheel drive, as well as one of three trim levels: F Sport, Version L and Executive.

The model will cost from 14.14 million to 18.05 million yen in Japan. Other announced updates include a panoramic roof as an option for all versions, a mesh deflector to reduce wind noise, Lexus lettering instead of the traditional logo at the rear of the vehicle, and, for the top trim level, cut-glass ornamentation and an expanded selection of leather upholstery colors.

In the US, the Lexus LS will end its career with the 2026 model year: the sedan will be offered there only as the LS 500 Heritage Edition, with the series limited to 250 vehicles. The manufacturer called this version a tribute to the model that began the history of the Lexus brand in 1989.
