Volkswagen and Audi to recall nearly 1 million cars in Germany — Deutsche Welle

Volkswagen and its subsidiary Audi will recall nearly one million vehicles in Germany due to a possible fault in the steering system. The campaign will cover about 900,000 Volkswagen vehicles and 58,555 Audi vehicles.

Possible problem with bolts

As Deutsche Welle reports, citing Germany's Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA), the recall was caused by a possible fault involving bolts. They may damage the steering mechanism and, in some cases, lead to a complete loss of control of the vehicle.

The bolts are to be replaced with parts resistant to corrosion caused by moisture. According to Auto Motor Sport magazine, Volkswagen believes that the problem will affect only a smaller portion of the vehicles subject to the recall. The company also stated that it is not aware of any accidents or injuries linked to the possible defect.
