On May 18, in the Desnianskyi district of Kyiv, law enforcement officers detained a servicemember who was on leave and opened fire at representatives of the Military Law Enforcement Service during the arrest. UA.News later received details of the incident:

While communicating with the VSP officers, the man drew a pistol chambered for the “Flobert” cartridge and fired two shots toward the investigators, after which he ran into the building and locked himself in apartment No. 171.

Subsequently, with the support of the Desnianskyi District Police Department’s Special Operations Group and the KORD special unit of the National Police, soldier M.V. Karpenko was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and placed in the National Police’s temporary detention facility in Kyiv pending the selection of a preventive measure.

The following items were seized:

• a firearm;

• 2 spent shell casings.

In addition, rolls of an unknown substance, preliminarily identified as explosive (resembling TNT blocks), were found in the apartment of soldier M.V. Karpenko.

Currently, an investigative team from the Central Directorate of the Military Police, together with the Internal Security Directorate of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Main Directorate of the Military Police of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and other law enforcement agencies, continues to work at the scene.

Earlier in Kyiv, law enforcement officers detained a mobilized serviceman who had left his unit in the Kharkiv region without authorization and, according to the investigation, began collaborating with the Russian side by carrying out tasks related to the registration of Starlink terminals.

Law enforcement officers used their service firearms to repel an attack during a call in the village of Seredniy Bereziv, Kosiv District. The incident occurred after medical personnel complained about the aggressive behavior of an unknown individual who threatened them with violence
