Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda arrived in Kyiv
Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda arrived in Kyiv on the morning of August 23. During his visit, he will take part in events marking Ukraine’s National Flag Day and Independence Day, meet with Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and hold talks with allies.
The Lithuanian president noted that he will spend the next two days in Ukraine. His visit includes participating in events marking Ukrainian national holidays, meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and holding talks with representatives of Northern European and Baltic countries.
Nausėda will also take part in a meeting of the “Coalition of the Willing.” This is a group of countries discussing further support for Ukraine and joint steps to strengthen its security. “Over the next two days, I will participate in events marking Ukraine’s Flag Day and Independence Day, meet with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and take part in discussions with our allies from Northern Europe and the Baltic states, as well as in a meeting of the ‘Coalition of the Willing,’” Nausėda wrote.
He also emphasized Lithuania’s unwavering support for Ukraine. “Lithuania supports Ukraine today—as it celebrates its national holidays—and always,” the Lithuanian president stated.
Nausėda’s visit comes on the eve of Ukraine’s Independence Day, which is celebrated on August 24. This year, the Ukrainian capital is also hosting foreign partners who are arriving to demonstrate their support for Ukraine. During the meetings in Kyiv, the parties are expected to discuss further support for Ukraine, cooperation among allies, and security issues.
