In the Darnytskyi district of the capital, law enforcement officials are investigating the circumstances of a major traffic accident involving two Mercedes trucks, which resulted in the deaths of two people.
The tragic accident completely paralyzed traffic on one of the city’s key thoroughfares and claimed the lives of both drivers.
According to preliminary information from law enforcement, the accident occurred today, June 26, at approximately 11:40 a.m. on Boryspil Highway.
The older driver found himself trapped on the roadway due to a sudden breakdown of his heavy-duty vehicle.
Investigators determined that the 60-year-old driver of one of the trucks had stopped on the road due to a mechanical failure and was lying under the vehicle performing repairs.
At that moment, another large truck of the same German make was traveling along the highway; its driver did not have time to react to the danger ahead.
At that moment, the 37-year-old driver of another Mercedes truck traveling in the same direction failed to notice the stopped vehicle and crashed into it.
The impact was so severe that it crushed the cabs and caused the multi-ton structure to shift.
The consequences of the powerful impact proved fatal for both individuals involved in the accident, who sustained injuries incompatible with life.
This was officially reported by the Kyiv Police Communications Department.
