Klitschko called for the prompt transfer of Gostiny Dvor to Kyiv's ownership
On August 14, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko called on the government to transfer Gostiny Dvor to the capital’s ownership as soon as possible. According to him, this will allow for the necessary emergency repairs to be carried out and the historic building to be prepared for restoration. The landmark has been in a state of disrepair for many years, and a significant portion of it has yet to be preserved.
In addition, the lack of proper waterproofing and the shallow depth of the metro structures beneath Gostiny Dvor pose additional risks to both the landmark and the city’s metro system.
Kyiv has the necessary financial resources and technical expertise to carry out priority emergency repair and preservation work.

The next stage involves preparing the necessary scientific and design documentation and carrying out a comprehensive restoration.
After restoration, Gostiny Dvor is planned to be transformed into a modern, multifunctional cultural space in the heart of historic Podil.

However, the city will only be able to begin full-scale work after the building is transferred to municipal ownership.
Gostiny Dvor at 4 Kontraktova Square is an architectural monument of national significance. It is currently state-owned and falls under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine.

Earlier, Klitschko initiated the dismissal of Bakhmatov, the head of the Desnianskyi District State Administration.
The clinic on Lisova Street has remained damaged for the third consecutive year following a deadly Russian strike.
Previously, Maxim Bakhmatov, former managing partner of UNIT.City, became an advisor to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko. He will focus on the development of information technology and the digitization of Kyiv.
