The Kyiv City State Administration has commented on rumors of a large-scale restoration of the Wedding Palace
The Kyiv City State Administration has denied reports of a full-scale restoration of the Central Wedding Palace costing approximately 280 million hryvnias, stating that only the minimum necessary work to preserve the building will be carried out.
Of the 48.9 million hryvnias allocated in the 2026 budget, only the funds needed to protect the site from further deterioration will be retained, while the remaining resources will be directed toward the capital’s most pressing needs. A full-scale restoration of the building and the creation of an accessible space have been postponed until the appropriate security and financial conditions are met.
The cultural heritage site was returned to the local community’s ownership in 2024 in a state of disrepair, as no comprehensive repairs had been carried out on the building since 1986. The clarification was prompted by media reports regarding the procurement of restoration work worth 279.58 million hryvnias through the “Prozorro” system from a single bidder.
