In Kyiv, the average salary in August was nearly 49,000 hryvnias

In August 2026, it stood at 48,705 UAH. Compared to July, this figure decreased by 1.5%.

At the same time, salaries in the capital remain significantly higher than the national average. In August, the national average salary was 31,892 UAH, while in Kyiv it was 16,813 UAH higher.

The highest incomes among the main economic sectors in the capital were recorded in the information and telecommunications sector—an average of 91,252 UAH per month. This is nearly three times higher than the national average.

Financial and insurance activities ranked second in terms of wages, at 67,898 UAH. Employees in professional, scientific, and technical fields earned an average of 52,681 UAH.

Salaries were noticeably lower in the education sector—27,303 UAH—as well as in temporary accommodation and food services—26,764 UAH—and in the arts, sports, entertainment, and recreation sector—32,245 UAH. In health care and social assistance, the average salary was 31,337 UAH.

By comparison, the average salary across Ukraine in information and telecommunications was 79,170 UAH, in financial and insurance activities—61,004 UAH, and in professional, scientific, and technical activities—41,281 UAH. The lowest average figures were in education—19,109 UAH, arts, sports, and recreation—21,619 UAH, and health care and social assistance—22,280 UAH.

The statistical data covers legal entities and their separate divisions with 10 or more employees. In Kyiv, the average number of full-time employees in August was over 1.12 million, and on average, each employee worked 136 hours.

Thus, despite a slight decrease compared to July, Kyiv maintained a significant gap with the national average wage level in August.

Earlier, the Ministry of Finance released the draft state budget of Ukraine for 2027. It includes record-high spending on security and defense, pay raises for teachers and medical workers, as well as substantial funds for pensions, support for veterans, and internally displaced persons. Overall, government spending is expected to rise to 7.27 trillion hryvnias.
 
The average pension in Ukraine for the first half of 2026 increased by 728 hryvnias. However, this figure does not fully reflect the actual level of payments, as a significant portion of Ukrainian pensioners receive amounts lower than the average pension.
