In the Kyiv region, the readiness of mobile networks for blackouts was tested
A large-scale test was conducted in the Kyiv region to assess the readiness of mobile operators and communities to function during prolonged power outages. The test involved the operators Kyivstar, Vodafone, and lifecell, as well as district administrations and all 69 communities in the region.
During the exercises, the operation of base stations on backup power was tested, as well as the response time of mobile teams, access to facilities, and the ability to connect generators. To this end, communities received training assignments through the regional response system, after which mobile teams were dispatched to designated base stations.
The Kyiv Regional Military Administration reported that communities in the region have already received 1,196 generators from mobile operators to provide backup power for base stations.
According to the results of the inspection, 55 out of 69 communities successfully completed all tasks. At the same time, issues were identified in 14 communities regarding access to facilities, access to base stations, or connecting backup power.
“Most importantly, the testing allowed us to honestly assess the actual state of readiness and identify issues that need to be addressed at every level,” said Maksym Stoliarchuk, deputy head of the Kyiv Regional State Administration.
Once the identified shortcomings have been addressed, the region plans to conduct retesting.
