A player on the Ukrainian U18 national hockey team was injured during the attack on Kyiv

Nazar Stepanyuk, a defenseman for Ukraine’s U18 national team and the Kherson-based “Dnipro” club, was injured during the Russian shelling of Kyiv on September 25. The 18-year-old hockey player is currently in the hospital, where he is receiving the necessary medical care.

 

Nazar Stepanyuk, a defenseman for Ukraine’s U18 national team, was injured during yet another Russian attack on Kyiv on Friday, September 25. According to the Ukrainian Ice Hockey Federation (UIF), the athlete is currently in the operating room. Doctors are providing him with the necessary medical care. The Ukrainian Ice Hockey Federation has called on everyone to support Nazar Stepanuk’s family and wished the athlete a speedy recovery.

Nazar Stepanyuk’s Career

In August 2026, Stepanuk joined the Kherson-based “Dnipro” team. The team returned to competition after sitting out the 2025–26 season. Prior to that, the hockey player played for the youth team of Kyiv’s “Sokil.” Stepanuk also represents Ukraine’s U18 junior national team at the international level. After joining “Dnipro,” the defenseman participated in a training camp in the Czech Republic with the team. Since then, he has already played in official games of the new season.

In particular, Stepanuk took to the ice in a game against Kremenchuk. In that game, he scored one goal and recorded an assist. However, “Dnipro” lost to their opponent 2–9. Currently, the team and the Ukrainian Ice Hockey Federation are awaiting updates on the athlete’s condition. This was reported by the Ukrainian Ice Hockey Federation.

In the Solomyanskyi district of Kyiv, four people were killed when an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) struck an office building. Seven people were also injured in the attack.

In Kyiv, traffic on Vadym Hetman Street has been blocked due to an enemy strike. 

The number of casualties from Russian attacks in Kyiv has risen, including one child.

As a reminder, in Kyiv’s Dnipro district, a residential area was destroyed as a result of a Russian attack on September 24. According to preliminary information, none of the residents were killed.

Also, in Obolon, a UAV crashed onto the grounds of a garage cooperative.

Russia launched a missile attack on Kyiv on the night of September 24; two people were killed and eight were injured.
