Metro service across the South Bridge in Kyiv may resume during yellow alerts

Train service on the Green Line of the metro across the South Bridge may resume during “yellow” level air raid alerts. A final decision will be made after experts assess the condition of the structure.

According to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, the metro system is ready to resume service following the recent attacks. At the same time, experts must assess the safety of the bridge’s operation. The Ministry of Infrastructure has submitted a request to scientific institutions for this assessment.

The Kyiv Defense Council reviewed the issue of transport across the Dnipro River. At the meeting, they heard from military officials, law enforcement officers, rescue workers, and representatives of municipal services. Participants developed proposals regarding the safety and maintenance of transport links between the left and right banks of the capital.

Klitschko emphasized that Kyiv is in a difficult situation due to Russian attacks on infrastructure, logistics, housing, social facilities, and the energy sector. According to him, decisions regarding the operation of public transportation must be made with safety and real-world conditions in mind.
