Following yet another massive Russian attack on Kyiv, air quality has deteriorated significantly. In several districts of the capital, the Air Quality Index (AQI) has reached levels that are hazardous to sensitive population groups.
According to an international monitoring system, the worst readings as of this morning were recorded at the following locations:
Regeneratorna Street — AQI 156, corresponding to an “unhealthy” air quality level;
Kakha Bendukidze Street — AQI 155.
According to SaveEcoBot, the highest pollution levels among the capital’s districts are observed in: Podilskyi District — Air Quality Index 96, andSolomianskyi District — 94.
The most polluted locations, according to SaveEcoBot:
57 Sichovykh Striltsiv Street — index 155;
23 Vitalii Skakun Street — index 140.
As of 7:35 a.m., the humidity in Kyiv was 60%.
Due to the deterioration in air quality, residents of the capital are advised to:
keep windows closed;
to wet-clean their homes;
drink more clean water;
use air purifiers if possible;
refrain from going for walks and spending long periods of time outdoors, especially children, the elderly, and people with respiratory conditions.
The deterioration in air quality was caused by the aftermath of a massive Russian attack, specifically fires and combustion byproducts released into the atmosphere following strikes and destruction in the capital.
As a reminder, on Tuesday, June 30, Kyiv and the Kyiv region were engulfed in thick smog. Residents of the capital are reportingastrong smell of smoke, reduced visibility, and a scratchy throat.
As of June 29, air quality in the Kyiv region waswithin normal limits, despite numerous fires in the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone. No increase in background radiation levels was recorded in the region either.
