Prytula Condemned the Crackdown on the Protest in Teremky
TV host Serhiy Prytula, along with Member of Parliament Roman Hryshchuk and singer Amil Nasirov, condemned the actions of the Kyiv Municipal Security Service, which used force against local residents during a protest in the Teremky neighborhood. Citizens took to the streets to protest the cutting down of trees in the park during the construction of a backup heating main by the company “Kyivteploenergo.”
Entertainer Serhiy Prytula expressed outrage that a municipal service would use force against the very people whose taxes fund it, and noted that it is pointless to discuss this with Mayor Vitali Klitschko — he supposedly doesn’t care about anything except Natalka Park. According to singer Amil Nasirov of the band “Kurgan & Agregat,” the violent dispersal of activists reminded him of events at rallies in Moscow.
For his part, Member of Parliament Roman Hryshchuk called for the disbandment of the Municipal Security Service, emphasizing that it is unacceptable for the mayor to maintain a private army funded by the city budget. The new heating main is being laid through the park to provide heat to the “Teremky-1” and “Teremky-2” residential complexes in the event of emergencies.

As a reminder, in the Teremky neighborhood of Kyiv, another clash broke out between residents and employees of the “Municipal Security Service” during a protest over the construction of a backup heating network. One of the protesters sustained an arm injury as a result of the security guards’ actions.
The conflict arose over the construction of a backup heating network through a green space in the Teremky neighborhood. Local residents are protesting the construction work and the cutting down of trees, while city authorities insist that the network must be built to improve the reliability of heat supply to the Teremky-1 and Teremky-2 districts.
On September 21, in the Teremky neighborhood of Kyiv, employees of the “Municipal Security” municipal enterprise and units of the National Police were called in to secure the construction site where the backup heating network is being laid. The Kyiv City State Administration explained that some residents had attempted to block the work of heavy equipment and construction crews.
The city administration noted that it respects residents’ right to peacefully express their views; however, people’s presence in the construction zone could pose a danger due to large-scale equipment, open trenches, and construction materials.
As a reminder, in the Teremky neighborhood, police are clearing a path for a heating pipeline, which involves cutting down 100-year-old oak trees.
Also in Teremky, Kyiv’s municipal security forces forcibly removed protesters.
Against this backdrop, Kyivteploenergo denies that trees are being cut down in Teremky.
