Video: Security guards seriously injured a female protester's hands in Teremky

In the Teremky neighborhood of Kyiv, another clash broke out between residents and employees of “Municipal Security” during a protest over the construction of a backup heating network. One of the protesters sustained an injury to her arm as a result of the security guards’ actions.

According to those present, the woman asked that physical force not be used against her, citing that she was feeling unwell. 

Eyewitnesses claim her request was ignored.

According to the protesters, the woman sustained a serious arm injury following the clash. 

A video of the incident has already appeared online. 

The conflict arose over the construction of a backup heating network through a green space in the Teremky neighborhood. Local residents are protesting the construction work and the cutting down of trees, while city authorities insist that the network must be built to improve the reliability of heat supply to the Teremky-1 and Teremky-2 neighborhoods.

The protest in Teremky is now in its second day. According to eyewitnesses, police pushed the activists onto the grounds of the “Respublika” residential complex.

The Kyiv City State Administration stated that, as of September 21, no instances of “Municipal Security” employees exceeding their official authority had been recorded. City officials explained that security personnel were deployed to prevent people from entering the danger zone where heavy equipment was operating.

On September 21, in the Teremky neighborhood of Kyiv, employees of the “Municipal Security” public enterprise and units of the National Police were called in to secure a construction site where a backup heating network is being laid. The Kyiv City State Administration explained that some residents had attempted to block the work of the equipment and construction crews.

The city administration noted that it respects residents’ right to peacefully express their views, but the presence of people in the construction zone could pose a danger due to large-scale equipment, open trenches, and construction materials.

As a reminder, in the Teremky neighborhood, police are clearing a path for a heating pipeline, which involves the removal of 100-year-old oak trees.

Also in Teremky, Kyiv’s municipal security forces forcibly removed protesters.
